Demetris Alexander Marshall, Sr. Obituary (1967 - 2024)

Demetrius Alexander Marshall., Sr. peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home to meet his Savior on June 15, 2024. Demetrius was born to the late George Johnson and Ora Lee Freeman (Johnny) on March 26, 1967, in Jackson, MS. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. George Johnson; Jayceon Redmond (Grandson); Maternal Grandparents, Ms. Drucilla Todd (Great Grandmother), Ms. Viola Taylor (Grandmother), Mr. Julius Marshall (Grandfather), Mr. Joe Taylor (Grandfather); Paternal Grandparents, Ms. Ruth Johnson (Grandmother) and Mr. Lawyer Berry (Grandfather); Ms. Yolanda Taylor (Aunt), Gatha Roby (Aunt), Martisha Caston (Cousin). At an early age, Demetrius accepted Christ and united with First Church of Deliverance in Raymond, MS, under the leadership of Apostle William Cooper. Demetrius' grandparents were devoted Christians, making spiritual development a priority in their home, instilling the fear of God within his mom, aunts and uncles, as well as other family members from one generation to the next. His grandparents were exceptional quartet singers which helped to instill in him a lifelong love for music. Demetrius attended Raymond High School. He was a diehard fan of "Thee I Love", Jackson State University, in which he would initiate, and participate in many tailgate events . Demetrius later joined Victory Christian Outreach the leadership of Bishop David Veal, where he continued to worship and grow spiritually for the remainder of his earthly life, proving, it's not how you start BUT how you finish. Demetrius worked in several capacities before his employment with Continental Tire Industry until his health began to fail him. He had a passion for family gatherings in which he was the life of the party and deemed "the family comedian". There was never a dull moment whenever he was present. If you ever engaged in conversation with him, he would eventually get around to sharing God with you and sometimes even sharing a tune or two.
