Malvenia Brady Obituary (1931 - 2023)

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7 Mother Malvenia Wright Brady was born on September 15, 1931, to the late Rev. Henry Wright Jr. and Sister Selena Jones-Wright. She was the firstborn child of the eleven children born into this spirit-filled family. Mother Brady was baptized on August 19, 1945, by her father the late Rev. H.Y. Wright, Jr. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Simmesport, LA. Mother Brady was united in marriage with the love of her life, Brother Leroy Brady, Sr. After marriage she became a member of Second Macedonia Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful choir member. She later joined Vision Christian Center where she served as Church Mother and a vital part of the Women of Substance Organization. Mother Malvenia Brady possessed the spirit of a Nurturing Caregiver. She tended to everyone she knew and did not know. She carried a book of medical terms and diagnosed many of her family and others medical conditions. She was also a midwife, who delivered one of our family members. Mother Brady was known to family and friends as Aunt Pat-Pat, Grandma Aunt Pat. Though she was a woman with much wisdom, love, and compassion she would fight both spiritually and physically. She was a woman of strength and tenacity who refused to give up on any battle. Mother Brady leaves to cherish her loving memories 1 daughter Cheryl Jackson (Joseph) of Moreauville, LA, 2 stepdaughters Anita Nettles (Michael) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Patricia Thomas of Baton Rouge, LA; 1 son Patrick Wright (Ashley) of Simmesport, LA; 1 bonus son, Leroy Brady, Jr. (Charlene) of Baton Rouge, LA 13 grandchildren, Devellious, Marcus and Joseph Jackson of Baton Rouge, LA, Laquisha, Charlania, and Shirvenia Watson, Carla Hoffman of Simmesport, LA, Sysamelia Gagnard of Cottonport, LA, Chase Gagnard of Hessmer, LA, Patrick and Ashton Wright of Simmesport, LA, Melissa Sanchez of Baton Rouge, LA, Derrick Dobbins of Moreauville, LA; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Clynethia Anderson of Simmesport, LA; 2 brothers Cleveland Wright of Simmesport, LA and Reverend Clayton Wright(Stephanie) of Houston, TX; sister in laws, Lorena Wright of Simmesport, LA, Willie Mae Wright of Batchelor, LA, Emma Wright of Perris, CA, Debra Wyatt Wright of Baton Rouge, LA; 1 Godchild: Irving Pierre of Simmesport, LA; a multitude of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mother Malvenia was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Henry and Selena Wright; husband Leroy Brady, Sr.; 1 son, Gregory D. Wright; 5 brothers, Leroy Wright, Rev. Henry Wright III, Fredrick Wright, Clifton Wright, and Onelious Wright, Sr.; 2 sisters, Verna Mae Gilbert and Etheline Wright; 2 great-grandsons Eric Watson and Ronald Rowe, III; 1 Godchild, Rita Gayle Allen.
