Otis Tanner, Jr. Obituary (1953 - 2024)

Obituary "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believe in me will never die." JOHN 11:25 - 26 Otis Tanner, Jr. ("June Bug") entered this life on January 18, 1953, to the late Otis Tanner, Sr. and Leona Dorsey Tanner, both of Alexandria, LA. He departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was baptized as a child at Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. M. Gross. He grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Peabody High School. He served his country for two years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1975. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge La. He loved to cook, watch westerns and sports. His favorite teams were the Orlando Magic and New Orleans Saints. He could tell you anything about history, loved his family and was proud to be a Southern alum. Otis is preceded in death by his mother, Leona Dorsey Tanner, his father, Otis Tanner, Sr., two sisters: Yvonne Smith and Cathy Fields and one brother, David Tanner. He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Tousha Tanner Henton (Steven), Acquanetta Turner both of Alexandria, Louisiana and Tonya Tanner Young (Robert) of Stonecrest, Georgia; eight sisters, Jackie LaCour (Lawrence Jr.) of Alexandria, Louisiana, Connie Woodley (Sherman) of Lithonia, Georgia, Twinder Tanner of Round Rock, Texas, and Yolanda Tanner Eaglin (Patrick) of Missouri City, Texas, Sheila Jacobs, and Martha Fontenot both of Alexandria, Louisiana, Paula Sanders of Palmetto, Florida and Gloria Berry (Joe) of Arlington, Texas; five brothers, Jerry Tanner of Louisville, Kentucky, Donald Tanner, Todd Tanner (Alberta), Wenwick Tanner and Karl Tanner all of Missouri City, Texas. He also leaves grandchildren, great grandchildren, goddaughter, Valerie LaCour Francois, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
