Rufus Landrum, Jr. Obituary (1943 - 2023)

Rufus Landrum, Jr., who was known as "JrBoy". He was born on August 9, 1943 to the union of the late Rufus Landrum, Sr., and the late Viola Smith Landrum, in Bayou Rapides, Louisiana. Bro. Rufus passed from this life in Rapides General Regional Hospital on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was one of three children born to that union, who all preceded him in death. He was baptized at an early age, by the late Rev. Humphrey at First Evening Star Baptist Church. He was united in Holy Matrimony on March 5, 1965 to the Patricia Brooks Landrum, three children were born. Bro. Rufus worked for Finkie's Farm for The Dekeyzer Family for many years until his health started to fail him. Jerome, Caroline, Marie, Justin, and Peter have always treated JrBoy like family. Bro. Rufus joined St. Matthew Baptist Church, he joined the Sanctuary and Brotherhood Choirs, he enjoyed singing for the Lord. He sang for the Lord until his health began to fail. Bro. Rufus enjoyed watching the New Orleans Saints football team. He loved spending time with his family shooting pool, dominos, spades, and throwing horse shoes. Bro. Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Landrum, Sr., and Viola Smith Landrum, two sisters Ethel Mae Landrum Harris and Annie B. Landrum Williams. Those left to cherish JrBoy's memories include his wife of 57 years Patricia Brooks Landrum, one sister Sabrina (Earnest) Stafford, one son Michael Landrum of Alexandria, La., two daughters Franya (Lonnell) Bellamy and Shakeshia Landrum of Alexandria, La., three grandchildren ShaQuita Landrum of Alexandria, La., Antwaine Bellamy of Georgetown, TX., and Mikell Boyd of Corpus Christi, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
